Ichifuji, Nitaka, and Eggplant (Ichifuji, Nitaka, Sansubi). This Hawaiian shirt, which depicts three motifs that are said to be auspicious in Hatsuyume from ancient times, is a reproduction of the vintage created by the brand "S. Hata Shoten" in the early 1950s.Although it was reprinted once in 2005 at Sunsurf, it was reprinted for the first time in about 17 years in response to many requests received over the years. Many of the Hawaiian shirts made in the 1930s and 1950s, which are currently highly regarded as vintage, are made of rayon, but this work is made of silk, which is rare among vintage shirts. At that time, the silk fabric called Fujiginu, which was made in Japan and exported to Hawaii, is reproduced.
Also, at first glance, the number of colors seems to be small, but in fact, 20 color molds (print plates) are used, including the "ground mold". By rubbing these molds one by one and making full use of advanced printing techniques called "tapping" and "tweezers", Mt. Fuji, which rises magnificently, and a hawk that spreads its wings and tries to take off are delicately and boldly depicted.
